Proliferating Baby Furniture - Google Project 10^100

As a baby grows, his furniture grows together! Our pfurniture is an innovative concept inspired by cell biology. It proliferates, just as a baby grows with cell proliferation. The key idea of pfurniture is to follow natural biological pathways. * It is based on the concept of cell proliferation. * It is made with eco-friendly biomaterials that are biocompatible, non-flammable, mechanically stable, and biodegradable. * It is safe for children physically and chemically. * It is space-efficient because of the reuse unnecessary products. It can even be easily folded when not used. * It can be effectively manufactured at a low cost. Baby products, made of wood or hard plastics, tend to have short useful product lives because of the baby’s growth. They are expensive, cluttering our living environment, and are a wasteful use of natural resources. Imagine the accumulated quantities of abandoned baby products produced every three months by each household. Imagine the harm to our environment. Moreover, parents legitimately worry about children’s exposures to environmental hormones from hard-plastic-based products and the danger of flammable and chemically treated wood-based baby products. It is ironic that products designed for the good of babies actually harm the very environment they will grow up in, putting at risk their individual health and the survival of the next generation. In addition, immediate costs of this waste are borne by the parents who cannot afford to purchase the products due to financial constraints or spatial limitations. ### Please note that the furniture pieces shown in the video are mere prototypes to demonstrate the reconfigurability of pfurniture.
